On the morning of November 28, 104 international students from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), brimming with great passion and high spirits, headed for Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Centre, where they competed fiercely with other friends from different parts of the world in basketball, ping-pong, football, badminton, and other games. They put on a tremendous display, combining ease and intensity, competition and friendship.
Even in fierce competition, SYSU’s teams and their competitors maintained a positive spirit of friendly sportsmanship. Through sports, old friendships were strengthened and new friendships were forged, exactly reflecting the theme of the Games: “Carry forward friendship, energize Guangzhou.”
During the games, Davlatzoda Shakhbozi from Kazakhstan and PIinzaru Andrei from Moldova played a fantastic ping-pong game with Mr. Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou, and Mr. Su Zhijia, Chairman of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). As alumnus of Sun Yat-sen University, the Mayor spoke highly of the two players and expressed thanks for their participation in the game.
