Various Collectives and Individuals from SYSU Receives Awards of Volunteer Service in Guangdong Province

On the day of Dec.5th, the 24th Volunteers’ Day, " Volunteer and Create New Life–the Launching Ceremony for Youths in Guangdong Province and the National Experience Day of Voluntary Services for the Asian Games ", was held in Guangzhou Heroes Square. The event was hosted by the 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee, the Office of Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee of Guangdong Province,, the Communist Youth League Committee of Guangdong Province, Association of Volunteers of Guangdong Province, which was undertaken by the Guangzhou Municipal Office of Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee, Volunteer Work Coordination Group Office of the 16th Asian Games, the volunteer department of the 16th Asian Games Organizing Committee, the Communist Youth League Committee of Guangzhou and other units. The gold award of volunteer service of Guangdong province and other awards were given in this activity, which included 6 collective and individuals from SYSU. Meanwhile, Huang Shan, secretary of youth league committee of SYSU, represented the university to accept the award. The awards SYSU received are as follows:

Gold award of volunteer service in Guangdong province (collective): Youth Volunteers Association of SYSU

Bronze award of volunteer service in Guangdong province (collective): Love Student Association of SYSU

Outstanding Project Award for Voluntary Service in Guangdong province: postgraduate teaching group voluntary action of SYSU

Silver award of volunteer service in Guangdong province (individual): Li Wei (Department of Chinese Language and Literature), Linhong Zhang (School of Environmental Science and Engineering)

Bronze award of volunteer service in Guangdong province (individual): Yang Zhang (School of Sociology and Anthropology)

According to the sources, 10 outstanding volunteer service projects, 100 advanced volunteer collectives and 100 advanced volunteer individuals had been elected in this activity, with 8 collectives and 9 individuals receiving gold award.
