SYSU’s Lingnan Dramatic Club Achieved Another round of Success

On August 21, the Seventh Nationwide College Peking Opera Singing Seminar which lasted six days drew it’s curtain in Yantai City, Shandong Province. SYSU’s Lingnan Dramatic Club got two first prizes, five second prizes and the prize for excellent organization; the club was highly regarded by the seminar organizing committee.

All of the the participants of Lingnan Dramatic Club are freshmen, many of whom had never been on the stage before. Nontheless, they impressed the audience and the judges greatly with their impeccable performance and became the spotlight of the event. ; In the seminar subsequently, Wu Weimian, who is a sophomore of Chinese studies, gave an introduction on the history of Chinese ancient opera studies of SYSU’s Chinese department. He also read his thesis titled Three Traditional Theories on the Creation of Peking Opera, and was praised by President Sun Yuming, who is famous Peking Opera artist.
