On January 10^th and 11^th, Seminar for Winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation 2010 and for Science and Technology Summing Up was held in Hu Men, Guangdong Province. More than 100 people attended this seminar, including Academician Xu Ningsheng (the president of Sun Yat-Sen University), Academician Zeng Yixin, Academician Chen Xiaoming, Mr. Xie Xuening (the general president of Technology and Information Bureau of Guangzhou), Yan Guangmei, Xu Jiarui, Li Mengfeng (all of these three are the vice president of Sun Yat-Sen University), the winners of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation 2010, directors of relevant functional departments and some representatives of teachers. The conference was presided over by Vice President Yan Guangmei.

In the conference, President Xu Ningsheng gave a speech. In his speech, he pointed out that Sun Yat-Sen University is in a new period of development; it should inherit and development the existing educational philosophy, establish new ideal, pursue the goal "constructing world-class academic community”. Talking about the university scientific research, President Xu Ningsheng proposed that scientific research should be conducted in line with the basic condition of our country, of our province, of our city; scholars should investigate Guangdong carefully, think about what kind of demand is existing in Guangdong and what can we do for Guangdong, and contribute to Guangdong with the position of being initiative to provide comprehensive service and fruit work. In addition, President Xu Ningsheng pointed out that our university is comprised of many schools (hospitals) and real departments, as a result, the dean of each school, hospital, the director of each department and leading person of each subject should take on the responsibility of organizing, coordinating and leading. In the conference, President Xu Ningsheng also reported some resent situation of the university.

Mr. Xie Xuening, the general president of Technology and Information Bureau of Guangzhou, gave a special report with the name "Building National Innovative City”. He introduced the, "second five" content of science and technology development plan of Guangzhou City to the participant and expressed his hope that Sun Yat-Sen University could better participate in the plan to building Guangzhou a national innovative city. Academician Chen Xiaoming gave a report with the name “Research Experience and Reflection” based on his own knowledge and experience. Professor Weng Jianping, a winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation 2010 as well as the vice president of the third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, gave a research report. Professor Wang Biao, a winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation 2010 as well as the president of Technical Institute, gave a report with the name “Some Thought as an Old Outstanding Youth”. All these three professors have shown their experience and feeling on their scientific research way in their speech, striking a resonance in the heart and mind of the participant. Later, Xiao Lianghui (the director of Technology Department) and Liang Dan (the director of Medical Department) gave speeches about Technology Department and Medical Department respectively. Li Shanmin (the director of Financial Department) gave a report about the usage of research funding.

During the conference, all participants sufficiently communicated with each other and exchange ideas with each other, and the conference achieves good results.
