Co-sponsored by Southern Media Group, Yangcheng Evening News Group, Guangdong TV and Yangcheng Evening News, Award Ceremony “Guangdong’s Top Ten Economic Persons of the Year 2010 (the Seventh)” was held on the evening of January 7^th. Two alumni of our university were honored with “Guangdong’s Top Ten Economic Persons of the Year”. These two alumni are Mr. Liu Wei and Mr. Zhang Chuanwei respectively. Mr. Liu Wei is the chairman of the board of Guangzhou Jia Du Group Co., Ltd., the chairman of the board of Xian Tai IT Co., Ltd. as well as the president of Alumni Association of Technology Institute of Sun Yat-Sen University, while Mr. Zhang Chuanwei is the chairman of the board and the CEO of Ming Yang of China Wind Power Group Co., Ltd. and a master of Business Administration of Sun Yat-Sen University.

Mr. Liu Wei graduated from Mechanics Department of Sun Yat-Sen University in the year 1987 and founded Guangzhou Jia Du Group Co., Ltd. in 1992. Though 18 years great effort, Guangzhou Jia Du Group Co., Ltd. founded by seven university graduates has become an ICI value-added services industry group which owns more than 2,000 high-tech talents of various kinds, and whose output value is near 10 billion RNB. Mr. Liu Wei has created many NO.1s in various industries, such as the first Chinese private entrepreneur to cooperate with Fortune 500 on electronic distribution business, the first entrepreneur to fully use information system and introduce IT electronic distribution to e-commerce era in China, the chairman of the board and the CEO of the first private high-tech enterprise launched in Singapore. Besides, in 2010, Jia Du Group Co., Ltd. bought the only one software listed company in Guangzhou Xian Tai IT Co., Ltd. and finished the reorganization, to make the market value of the company increase six times within one year, re-establishing the leading position of Xian Tai IT Co., Ltd. in the software industry of Guangdong. In addition, Mr. Liu Wei has won many honors and awards, such as “Guangzhou Top Ten Youth”, "China IT Channel Elite Award for Lifetime Achievement” conferred by Ministry of Industry, “China's IT Distribution Influential People in 20 Years”, “China Information Industry Annual 2006 Top Ten Economic Persons”, Ten New Guangdong Merchants” and so on.

Mr. Zhang Chuanwei studied in San Yat-Sen University and Hong Kong Baptist University from the year 1998 to 2002 and got the master’s degree of Business Administration. He founded Ming Yang Group in the year 1993 and founded Ming Yang of Guangdong Wind Power Group Co., Ltd. in 2006. Based on the domestic environment, adhering to independent innovation, combining international resources, the Ming Yang Group leaded by Mr. Zhang Chuanwei created Ming Yang Wind Power Style within 28 months and continuously breaking the records of Chinese wind power industry: the world's first megawatt-type anti-typhoon draught fan was put into commercial operation in Ming Yang Group, the first megawatt-type large-scale draught fan Completely independent invented by China was mass produced in Ming Yang Group, the first to run into the field of SCD super-compact transmission type draught fan. At present, Ming Yang Wind Power Group Co., Ltd. is one of the five major manufacturers of new energy in China. Mr. Zhang Chuanwei started his business with only 10,000 RNB and though 16 years effort, he moves to the large industrial platform with billion annual values. At the present time, Mr. Zhang Chuanwei is also a committee member of Standing Committee of Zhongshan, Guangdong, the president of Business Association of Zhongshan, the president of Electrical Industry Association of Guangdong and a CPPCC member of Binhai New Area, Tianjin. Alumnus Mr. Zhang Chuanwei has won many honors and awards, such as “Award for Outstanding Private Technology Entrepreneur in China”, “Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur in Guangdong Province” “China's Top Ten Persons of inverter”, "Top Ten Innovator during the 30 years of China’ Reform and Opening-up” and “Outstanding Builders of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics”.
