French Government Delegation Headed By the Regional President of PACA Visits SYSU
On the afternoon of Oct.14, a French regional government delegation headed by Michelle Wortzel, the regional president of Provence – Alps-Cote d’Azur (PACA), visited SunYat-senUniversity. The delegation also included other 12 representatives such as the vice president of PACA, the advisor of International Relations and the director of Office of Higher Education, etc. SYSU President Huang Daren received the delegation. The principal assistant Wei Minghai, together with leaders from School of Physics & Engineering, School of Tourism & Management as well as Schoolof Government, had a meeting with the delegation. Mr. Zhang Tainian, the consul general of French Consulate General, attended the meeting.
President Huang introduced to the delegation SYSU’s history and development status as well as its International cooperation and exchanges, especially the cooperation between SYSU and France. He particularly mentioned Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering & Technology co-built by SYSU and the French government, Sino-French Center & Ecole Normale Super Paris co-operated by Ecole Normale Super Paris and Confucius Institute & DESS program cooperated with French Lyon Ⅲ, etc. President Wortzel affirmed SYSU as a world-famous university with a long history, expressing his expectation to further enhance the cooperation between universities in PACA and SYSU during his visit. After listening to the delegation’s introduction about universities in PACA and its advantageous subjects, President Huang proposed to expand bilateral cooperation in tourism, tropical disease, life science and nuclear technology, etc. Meanwhile, he suggested that SYSU send delegations in relevant fields to PACA to further discuss the cooperation issue.
