SYSU Signs Cooperation Agreement With the UN World Tourism Organization
On the afternoon of Sep.28, the signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement between SYSU and UN World Tourism Organization took place at ZhongshanBuilding. Mr. Huang Daren, President of SYSU, and Mr. Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of UNWTO, signed the agreement respectively.
According to the agreement, UNWTO will establish a “Center for UNWTO Sustainable Tourism Observatories” with the support of SYSU. SYSU Research Center of Tourism Development and Planning will be responsible for the technical work of monitoring and managing all the observatories of UNWTO in China. And when the conditions are mature, the monitoring range will be expanded to the Asia-Pacific region. The signing of the agreement comes naturally after the long-term cooperation between SYSU Research Center of Tourism Development and Planning and the UNWTO. It creates a new situation and signifies a new phrase for the two sides’ comprehensive cooperation, providing a new opportunity to enhance the international influence by SYSU Research Center of Tourism Development and Planning.
Mr. Xu Jing, Director of the UNWTO Asia-Pacific Office, Mr. Luigi Cabrini from Sustainable Tourism Office, Professor Bao Jigang, the principle assistant of SYSU, Xu Yao, deputy director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Professor Xu Honggang, vice President of School of Tourism as well as part of the teachers and students of SYSU Research Center of Tourism Development and Planning, attended the signing ceremony.
