June 30 is the first day for poverty alleviation in Guangdong. On this day, over 30 secretaries of the party committee from partial schools and departments as well as the affiliated hospitals of SYSU, led by the university deputy secretary Li Ping, carried out an activity to help the poor in Qingkou Village of Zijin County in Heyuan city, which is the counterpart of SYSU’s poverty alleviation.

The secondary secretaries of the party committee, who took part in this activity, visited their responsible poverty-stricken households to express their sympathy. They tried to investigate the poor situation so as to draw up solutions to help the poor. Deputy Secretary Li Ping also visited the poverty-stricken households and extended her regards to them. As the Chinese communist party will celebrate its 89th anniversary during the activity, deputy secretary Li Ping, on behalf of SYSU, gave her regards to all the CPC members of Qingkou village and had an informal discussion with some of them. Meanwhile, deputy secretary Li Ping visited lucid ganoderma production base and red-fleshed sweet pomelo production demonstration spot, which are SYSU’s poverty alleviation projects.

The medical team of SYSU Guanghua Stomatological Hospital went along to conduct volunteer medical consultation, giving treatments for stomatological diseases and sanitary inspections to the pupils and some villagers. In addition, the First Affiliated Hospital had sent doctors to give medical treatments to the counterpart poor households.
