Ruan Weihua, Vice President of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Visits SYSU
In a team of 10 persons, Ruan Weihua, vice president of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, visited SYSU on April 22 to further discuss cooperation affairs in undergraduate students joint-training. Vice president Chen Chunsheng and principal assistant Wei Minghai met with the guests.
Sun Yat-sen University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University has kept firm cooperation in joint training of undergraduate students. In the year of 2009, the two universities took the lead in initiating the “2+2” project in micro electronics major; And this “2+2” project will induce in chemistry major in 2010. Furthermore, the same project for Geographic Information System, Photonics Science and Technology and Rehabilitation are also under discussion, and it is anticipated to enroll students by 2011. In addition, cooperation in Translation Major will be carried out in terms of students’ exchange.
During the meeting, the two sides carried out communications on how to integrate the shared courses and how to better participate in teaching for the teachers. They also made some discussions on teaching models, teacher resources, student scale, project application and approval as well as problems arising in the process of cooperation. Both sides agreed that such coordination meeting should be held annually so as to promote further cooperation between the two universities in joint-training of undergraduate students.
People in charge of School of Physics and Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Zhongshan Medical School, School of Translation and Interpretation, School of Geography and Planning, School of Foreign Languages and Dean’s Office of SYSU, attended the meeting.
