SYSU Signed Inter-university Collaboration Agreement with Taiwan Top Tier Universities

Invited by Taiwan National Normal University and other Colleges, President Huang Daren, leading a delegation on March 19 to 24, visited several universities in Taiwan. During the visit, President Huang Daren had met with Zhang Guoen, President of Taiwan Normal University, Jie-fu Shaw, President of National Chung Hsing University, Pao-Long Chang, President of Feng Chia University, and Wu Zhiyang, President of Chung Cheng University, and signed agreements with the fourUnder this agreement, SYSU, integrating the disciplinary advantages of each university, will make certain of key disciplines of collaboration respectively with the intention of launching scientific research collaboration, teachers exchange as well as students exchange in the disciplines of Chinese international education, life sciences, business administration, history, law and others.

In December of 2008, President Huang Daren had paid a visit to Taiwan with a delegation, and established intercollegiate cooperative relations with seven well-known universities in Taiwan. This visit further promoted the exchange between SYSU and the well-known universities in Taiwan, particularly the student exchange project, According to the agreement, approximately One hundred students will be sent to study in Taiwan , at the same time, SYSU will accept exchange students from various universities of Taiwan.

During his visit, President Huang Daren, with his party, also attended the 52 anniversary of Shih ChienUniversity, with which SYSU has a strong affinity. Mr. Xie Dongmin, a well-known educator and founder of Shih Chien University, is an alumnus of SYSU. He had studied at the School of Law, Department of Political Science of SYSU during the years of 1928 to 1931, and stayed with SYSU for many years after graduation.

People who escorted President Huang Daren to Taiwan include Professor Wang Jun, Dean of the Institute for Advanced Social Sciences, Professor Xu Yong, vice president of School of Business, Professor Shi Suhua from School of Life Sciences, as well as relevant people in charge of development and planning office and office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs. Vice President Chen Chunsheng, who was teaching at Taiwan National Central University also accompanied President Huang Daren through out the visit.
