On December 23, Wang Yang, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, met with Anne Lauvergeonthe, president of Group Areva, and her party. Academician Xu Ningsheng, vice-President of Sun Yat-sen University, accompanied and welcomed the guests from France.

Group Areva, a world-renown nuclear-energy company and one of the world Top 500 companies, has been providing favorable facility and technology for nuclear island and has positively promoted the “digestion, absorption and re-creation” of the nuclear power technology in Guangdong. It also takes active part in the construction of Collegeof China-France Nuclear Engineering and Technology, SYSU.

On behalf of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong Government, Secretary Wang Yang welcomed Lauvergeonthe and her party’s visit to Guangdong and confirmed Taishan Nuclear Power co-constructed by Group Areva and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Cooperation Meanwhile, Secretary Wang Yang appreciated Group Areva’s active participation in the construction of College of China-France Nuclear Engineering and Technology by SYSU and the French side.

Huang Yunlong, Provincial party committee member and Executive vice Governor, Qian Zhimin, President of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Cooperation, Bo Lang, Director of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, Li Miaojuan, Director of Guangdong Development and Reform Committee, Zhang Tainian, French Consul General stationed in Guangzhou, attended the meeting.
