The Sun Yat-sen University Commencement 2015 began on July 4. A total of 14, 073 graduates from the four campuses will receive their degrees in K.K. Leung Hall on South Campus during the four-day ceremonies.

As an alumnus of SYSU, Mr. Chen Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Guangzhou Municipal Government, attended the ceremony and gave a speech. He said that one third of the sources of Guangzhou Encyclopedia (520 volumes) are from the collections in SYSU Libraries. On behalf of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, Mayor Chen Jianhua presented 10 sets of the encyclopedia to SYSU.

At the invitation of President Luo Jun, Dr. James T. Wu, in his nineties, attended the SYSU Commencement 2015. Dr. James T. Wu is the Honorary Chairman of the SYSU Advisory Board, the Recipient of the Honorary Doctor’s Degree from SYSU, the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lingnan (University) College, and the Honorary Chairman of Maxim's Group.

The “Flash” is a graduation activity launched by the SYSU Youth Association this year. The songs “Childhood”, “Those Flowers”, “The Sound of Silence” and “Red Sun” attracted many students and teachers to join in the performance on the lawn.

Wang Lianghui, an MA graduate from the Department of Chinese, has spent six years at SYSU, and she is going to study for her Ph.D. for four more years at SYSU. “I’m happy and lucky to be able to study at SYSU for ten years. Here I can turn what I’m interested in to what I’m good at, and then turn what I’m good at to what I’ve been doing.”
Duan Zhuxuan, a BA graduate from the School of Communication and Design, said to the camera: “I’ve graduated today! What is a university? For me, the university is a process of acquiring wisdom.”
