Springfield College delegation visits SYSU

Springfield College Vice President Mr. Jonathan Scully led a four-member delegation to visit Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) from October 11 to 12. SYSU Vice President Liu Jike met with the delegation, accompanied by Fan Zhenguo, director of the Department of Physical Education.

SYSU Vice President Liu Jike extended a warm welcome to Mr. Jonathan Scully and his delegation, and introduced the basic information about SYSU as well as the achievements in sports made by the university. He highlighted that SYSU has maintained a close cooperative relationship with Springfield College for nearly 30 years, during which mutual visits and exchanges have been conducted among teachers and students for many times. He hoped that the two sides further deepen exchanges and cooperation in a wider range of fields and at deeper levels in the future.

Mr. Jonathan Scully expressed his warm congratulations on the 100th anniversary of SYSU, and introduced the basic inforamtion and development of Springfield College. He said that Springfield College attaches great importance to its long-term relationship with SYSU. He also expressed expectation that this visit will further enhance the friendship between the two universities ,and hoped to promote deep cooperation with SYSU.

After the meeting, the delegation had a talk with representatives of the Department of Physical Education of SYSU. Mr. Jonathan Scully, vice president of Springfield College, Ms. M. Sue Guyer, dean of the School of Athletics and Leadership, Mr. John Liu, professor of the Department of Physical Education, and Ms. Heather St Germaine, director of the International Center, introduced the outstanding achievements of Springfield College in physical education, sports science, and sports talent cultivation. Representatives from SYSU exchanged experience with the delegation regarding campus life at Springfield College, athlete training and management.

The delegation also exchanged with the leadership of Department of Physical Education to explore possibilities of cooperation on mutual visits of teachers, academic exchanges and joint talent cultivation.
