Biography

Gao Rui

Professor Gao Rui, an esteemed Geophysicist and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, holds a distinguished position as a professor in the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at Sun Yat-sen University. With a primary focus on geophysics and tectonics, his research revolves around utilizing deep seismic reflection techniques to unravel the tectonic evolution of the Tibetan Plateau, as well as the lithospheric deformation and associated tectonic features of other continental blocks.

Dr. Gao places significant emphasis on interdisciplinary studies within geophysics and geology to address complex tectonic issues. Under his leadership, his research team has successfully completed 18,500 km of deep seismic reflection profiles across mainland China, contributing significantly to our understanding of the deep crustal structure of the continent. The notable journal "Science" has highly lauded their exceptional seismic achievements. Specifically, Professor Gao and his team accomplished an integrated geophysical exploration for three Global Geoscience Transects (GGT) within the Tibetan Plateau, covering a total length of 3500 km at a scale of 1:1000,000.
