A study led by Professors Xuehua Wang and Jin Liu from the School of Physics at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) presented a novel cavity-induced spontaneous two-photon emission (STPE) scheme, taking the lead internationally in achieving spontaneous two-photon emission with intensity comparable to that of single-photon emission. Published in Nature on July 9, 2025, this work enables the generation of unconventional entangled photon pairs with a near-unity entanglement fidelity of 0.994 and on-demand photon emission. The achievement provides crucial support for the development of next-generation quantum precision measurement technologies and the construction of functional optical quantum information processing chips.
