On the morning of September 13, Prof. Ian White, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, met with Prof. Ian White on Zhuhai Campus and introduced the latest discipline development of Zhuhai Campus.

Accompanied by Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Prof. Ian White visited the School of Mobile Information Engineering (SMIE) at SYSU. Prof. Li Wenjun, Dean of SMIE, and Prof. Yang Ran, Deputy Dean of SMIE, introduced the educational philosophy and basic situation of SMIE. Prof. Ian White talked with the students and learned about their works in engineering practice.
Prof. Ian White also visited the Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology (IFCEN) at SYSU. Prof. Wang Biao, Dean of IFCEN, accompanied the guests to visit the basic experimental teaching center, and introduced the environmental radiation monitoring system of nuclear power stations in Guangdong Province.
Ian White gained his BA and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge in 1980 and 1984. He became Professor of Physics at the University of Bath in 1990. He was appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge in 2010. Ian White is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is currently Master of Jesus College, Cambridge, and Head of the Photonic Research Group in the Engineering Department at the University of Cambridge.
