School of Politics and Public Affairs of Our University Gains Fruitful Achievement Again in International Exchange

On January 13th and 14th, 2011, Professor Andrew Podger from Australian National University who is the former president of Australian Institute of Public Administration, the chief editor of the magazine Review of Australian Public Administration, Professor John Wanna who belongs to Australian National University and Professor Chen Hanxuan who is the faculty director of Public and Social Administration Department of City University of Hong Kong have paid a visit to School of Politics and Public Affairs of our university.

During the meeting, both sides have promised to manage to set up The China - Australia Public Management Dialogue in the next three years. The participants of this meeting are mainly the famous scholars in the field of Public Administration at home or in Australia, experienced government officials of China or of Australia. It is decided that from the year 2011, an international academic seminar will be held each year to discuss the hot issue that is interested by both sides, and provide a Comparative Perspective for academic discussion. The paper formed in the seminar will be published on the magazine Review of Australian Public Administration, so that more scholars and people of the same thought can share the study results. In addition, the meeting also forms the memorandum of Public Administration Dialogue between China and Australia, establishes Organizing Committee of the dialogue mechanism, and determines a series of detailed issues, such as the theme of dialogue in the next three years, the content of the meeting in 2011, the organized manner, the participants and the conference arrangement. On June 16th and 17 th of 2011, the first Public Administration Dialogue between China and Australia will be held by School of Politics and Public Affairs of our university and Public Management Research Center of China.

On the afternoon of January 14th of 2011, the president of FONDAFIP, the chief editor of the magazine France's Public Finances, Professor Michel Bouvier from First University of Paris, and the assistant of Professor Michel Bouvier Miss Huang Yan paid a visit to School of Politics and Public Affairs of our university and discussed the international exchanges and cooperative program with Professor Ma Jun (the dean of School of Politics and Public Affairs of Sun Yat-Sen University as well as the director of Public Management Research Center of China), and his assistant Associate Professor Niu Meili.

The two sides have reached a decision on many issues, such as jointly organize International Symposium on Public Finance, join FONDAFIP, co-start the comparative study, students exchange program and share academic resources of each other. At the invitation of Professor Michel Bouvier, on behalf of Public Management Research Center of China, Professor Ma Jun signed a formal agreement on joining FONDAFIP, extending the academic exchanges and cooperation of the two institutes. At the same time, Professor Ma Jun and Professor Michel Bouvier join the consultative committees of the magazine France's Public Finances and the magazine China Public Comment respectively. The magazine France's Public Finances is hosted by FONDAFIP while the magazine China Public Comment respectively is hosted by Public Management Research Center of China.

In recent years, School of Politics and Public Affairs of our university has already established institutional cooperation mechanism with many famous universities both at home and abroad. The successful cooperation with the academic institutes of Australia and France will better improve the international development of School of Politics and Public Affairs of our university.
