On the morning of April 2, 2016, the delegation from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda, consisting of Dr. Peter Ndimbirwe Mugyenyi, Dr. Jesse Kagimba and Dr. Vinand Nantulya, visited Zhongshan School of Medicine (ZSSOM), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), accompanied by Consul General Mr. Solomon Sabiti Rutega, Deputy Consul General Mr. Paul Mukumbya, and Mr. Julius Madira of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uganda, Guangzhou. 

Prof. Wu Zhongdao, Prof. Li Yiping, Prof. Yang Keli, Prof. Lv Zhiyue, Associate Professor Liao Jing  and Associate Professor  Hou Fengsu  from the Global Health Research Center of SYSU, together with representatives of African students, met with the guests on Guangzhou North Campus.
Prof. Wu Zhongdao, Secretary of ZSSOM Party Committee, extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced ZSSOM’s history, disciplinary development and school construction. The Delegation thought highly of ZSSOM’s achievements in scientific research and talent cultivation. The two sides had an in-depth discussion about the cooperation and exchange in tropical diseases research and medical education. They also negotiated the specific items of MOU (MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING) in detail. Prof. Wu hoped that through this visit ZSSOM could establish close and friendly cooperative relations with Uganda.
