The 2015 Digestive Disease Week of Guangzhou, hosted by the journal
Chinese Journal Of Gastrointestinal Surgery and undertaken by the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), was held at Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center on November 12-15, 2015. The conference had the main forum and seven parallel sessions concerning hot topics on inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal disease, hernia, digestive endoscopy, nutrition and other fields. GDDW (Guangzhou Digestive Disease Week) also provided a platform for domestic and overseas experts to exchange views and information in various forms including the demonstrating operations, exchange meetings, debate contests and the competition of videos of standard surgical procedures of laparoscopic operations for colorectal diseases.
As a high-level academic feast in the digestive diseases field in China, both domestic and foreign well-known experts from various disciplines of digestive system were invited as guest speakers, hosts and the demonstrators of operations. More than 1,200 participants attended the conference.

On November 13, an excellent surgery live broadcast brought the beginning of the 2015 Digestive Disease Week of Guangzhou. Fourteen demonstrations of surgery were broadcast through the network, and the live broadcasting won praise by peer experts from home and abroad who either attended the event on site or through network.
The main forum
On the morning of November 14, at the main forum, Professor William M. Grady, Chief of Gastroenterology Section of UW Medical Center, brought a lecture on Precision Medicine for Colorectal Cancer, which presented us with the latest treatment theory and the future prospect on the using of precision medicine for colorectal cancer. Professor Wang Jianping from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of SYSU won great acclaim by making an essential introduction to the Standard for Diagnosis and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer in 2015. Professor Ji Jiafu, President of Peking University Cancer Hospital, shared his cross-sectional study on current status of the standardization of the treatment for gastrointestinal cancer in China, emphasized the significance of early diagnosis and treatment of stomach cancer, and explored the current status and the conundrums of the treatment for stomach cancer. Professor Andrew T. Chan from Harvard University introduced the preventive value of aspirin in colorectal cancer. Moreover, Professor Hu Pinjin, Professor Shen Bo, Professor Philip R. Schauer and Professor Feza H. Remzi also gave keynote speech at the main forum and presented the current status in diagnosis and treatment and study progress in the digestive field.

A parallel session
From the afternoon of November14 to the morning of November 15, the conference held parallel sessions with warmly discussions about inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal disease, hernia, digestive endoscopy, nutrition and other fields.
The 2015 Digestive Disease Week of Guangzhou, under the principle of “Absorption Makes Profession”, has followed the development of diagnosis and treatment of digestive disease, and the hot topics on multidisciplinary treatment have been discussed intensely. By inviting famous experts from home and abroad to give lectures and to share ideas, the conference has set up a high-level and broad stage for scholars, aiming to work together with counterparts to actively promote the progress and development of the digestive field in China.
