On the afternoon of December 24, the 2014 Science and Technology Oral English Contest was held at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, with the topic of “Responsibility and Dream”. This competition attracted about a hundred contestants of 26 groups from different departments at the hospital. Prof. Jisheng Chen, Prof. Ying Peng, Prof. Liyan Xi, Prof. Yue Ding, Prof. Chaohui Duan, Prof. Hui Chen, and Prof. Yang Li were invited as judges for the contest. The event was hosted by Dr. Yinlun Weng from Neurosurgery Department and Miss Cuiwei Yao from Research Administration Department.

The contest included two sections: a five-minute performance in English and a Medical English Q&A Section. Contestants displayed their creativity and professional knowledge in the forms of a short play, a speech, a talk show, or a recitation, which became a feast for the audience and won positive feedback from the judges. The event offered great chances for the faculty to carry out exchanges on medical English learning.
