Sun Yat-sen University’s (SYSU) "Medical Statistics" course (Chinese version) was officially online at Chinese Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform (www.icourse163.org) at 10:00 am on September 1, 2014. This is the first SYSU online course launched at MOOC platform.
SYSU’s "Medical Statistics" course has 38 years of history. It was awarded as the Best National Courses (2008), the Best National Bilingual Courses (2010), the Best Provincial/State Online Courses (2011), and the Ministry of Education’s Branding English Courses for International Students (2013). This online course is designed and led by Professor Yuantao Hao, the Dean of School of Public Health (SPH) at SYSU. Professor Jiqian Fang, who won the National Distinguished Lecturer Award, is the primary instructor of this course. Other instructors are from the Department of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology in SPH of SYSU as well. This online course is one of the first four medical MOOC courses funded by China Medical Board (CMB) in China. This is the entry level course of medical statistics. It is targeted towards health-related professionals, researchers and students with any knowledge level of medical statistics.
