Bridging cultures through volleyball

From Feburary 17 to 18, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) hosted the 2025 China-Japan-Korea University Men's Volleyball Invitational Tournament on its South Campus in Guangzhou. Teams from SYSU, China University of Petroleum, Fukuoka University, and Joongbu University competed in the tournament.

On the court, athletes showcased intense determination, with every powerful spike and precise pass drawing roaring applause from spectators. Beyond demonstrating athletic prowess, the competitors radiated infectious enthusiasm, exchanging high-fives and words of encouragement that transcended national boundaries.

As natural ambassadors for cultural exchange, the student-athletes leveraged the tournament to share their perspectives on education, technological innovation, and sustainable development, which infused intercollegiate collaboration with renewed youthful vigor.

"The atmosphere here is incredible," remarked a Joongbu University player. "Competing against such exceptional teams is truly an honor."

The tournament transcended beyond a mere athletic competition, evolving into a cross-border cultural dialogue through the universal language of sports. Through spirited matches and off-court exchanges, the students deepened mutual understanding for diverse culture while exemplifying how sportsmanship and cultural communication can harmoniously converge.

Looking ahead, SYSU will continue harnessing sports as a bridge to boost global exchanges, amplifying Chinese youth's voices and showcasing the spirit of civilizational dialogue.
