Ms. ZHANG Qi is a professor, chief physician, researcher, and doctoral supervisor. In 2001, she graduated from a seven-year clinical medicine program of the First Military Medical University (now Southern Medical University) with a master’s degree in surgery. In 2004, she graduated from a doctoral program of the Second Military Medical University (now the Naval Medical University) under the supervision of Academician Wu Mengchao, and obtained a doctorate degree in surgery. From 2004 to 2008, she conducted postdoctoral research at Sun Yat-sen University and the University of Southern California.
In 2008, Ms. Zhang was selected into the “New Century Excellent Talents” program hosted by the Ministry of Education. In 2012, she was awarded the Outstanding Youth Fund of the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province. In 2017, she was awarded the “Pearl River Scholar” Distinguished Professor of higher education institutions of Guangdong Province. In 2018, she was awarded the titles of Leading Talent of Medical Science and Leading Young Talent of Medical Science in Guangdong Province. In 2019, she was honored with the “Guangdong May Day Women’s Award” and the title of “National Model Veteran”.
In December 2006, Ms. Zhang joined Sun Yat-sen University as an associate researcher through the “Hundred Talents Program”, and was promoted to researcher in December 2011. She was transferred to chief physician in April 2018, and to professor in May 2020. In June 2011, she was appointed as the Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Sun Yat-sen University. In November 2015, she was appointed as the Vice President of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. In April 2018, she joined the assistance program in Xinjiang and was appointed as the President of the First People’s Hospital of Kashgar Prefecture. In June 2020, she was appointed as the Director of Department of Hospital Administration, Sun Yat-sen University. In July 2021, she was appointed as Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. In December 2023, she was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University.
