ZHENG Yue was born in Xi'an of Shaanxi Province in April 1978. He received his Bachelor's degree and Ph.D. in Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2001 and 2007, respectively. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Engineering of Hong Kong Polytechnic University during 2007-2009. He joined Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in 2009 and became a full professor at the School of Physics and Engineering of SYSU since 2010. In 2014, he was invited to be a visiting professor at the McCormick School of Engineering of Northwestern University (USA).
Prof. Zheng Yue has been engaged in the research of solid functional structures, from the fundamental theory of the multifield coupling physics and mechanics to the integration and application of functional devices. He is the leader of key and major scientific research projects covering basic research, basic application and large-scale scientific facility at the national, provincial, and ministerial levels. He also serves as a member of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Executive Vice President of the Guangdong Society of Physics, an editorial board member of High Power Laser and Particle Beams.
Prof. Zheng Yue served as Deputy Dean, Executive Deputy Dean and Dean of the School of Physics at SYSU from 2016 to 2020. He became Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies since 2018, and Dean of the Institute of Advanced Technology at SYSU since 2019. In June 2020, he was appointed as Dean of the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence at SYSU. He was appointed as Assistant President of Sun Yat-sen University in March 2022. In January 2023, he was appointed as Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University.
