CHEN Xiaoming was born in 1961, Guangdong, China. He obtained his BSc (1983) and MSc (1986) degrees from Sun Yat-sen University, and PhD degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (1992) under the supervision of Professor Thomas C.W. Mak. After his graduation, he joined the chemistry faculty at Sun Yat-sen University in July 1992, and was promoted to full professor at the same university in 1995.
His current research interest is synthesis, structures and properties of functional coordination polymers and metal compounds, especially the porous and magnetic coordination materials. He published 300 papers.
