In 2013, Sun Yat-sen University and Johns Hopkins University initiated the collaboration program in the field of clinical research, mainly focusing on educational training, research collaboration and infrastructural evaluation of clinical research throughout SYSU and its eight affiliated hospitals. The Phase I collaboration accomplished its mission on September 2015, trained a group of clinical research experts, initiated ten research collaboration projects and assessed the clinical research infrastructure throughout SYSU and its eight affiliated hospitals.

In order to further improve the overall clinical research quality, the two universities have been exchanging ideas and opinions since last year, laying a good foundation for the discussion on Phase II. Through the meeting this time, the two universities successfully reached consensuses on a number of collaboration contents in Phase II and agreed to start the new phase of collaboration recently.
