In the evening on March 19, 2015, the award ceremony of CCTV’s large-scale public welfare activity to find the most beautiful doctor was held in Beijing. Zhan Hong, Director of the Department of Emergency at The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), was awarded the title of “the most beautiful doctor”.

Zhan Hong has worked in the Department of Emergency for 28 years. On the front line of saving patients’ lives, she has made efforts in building a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. She has been dedicated to promoting the teaching and research in emergency medicine. She has also accomplished her tasks in public emergency aid and national medical team.

The selection activity is hosted by China Central Television (CCTV). The judging panel has voted for the 10 most beautiful doctors, 10 doctors under special attention and the most beautiful mobile medical team. Two of the ten most beautiful doctors graduated from the medical school at SYSU: one is Zhan Hong, the other is Professor Chen Jianping, Deputy Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Fujian Medical University Union Hospital. Two doctors in the award-winning Chinese medical team in Africa in the fight against the Ebola epidemic are SYSU medical alumni: Deng Yanqin from Fujian Center for Disease Control & Prevention, and Liu Jun from Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention. A representative of the most beautiful mobile medical team, Professor Leng Jinhua from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, is also a SYSU medical alumna. The award ceremony will be broadcast on CCTV-1 on March 27 at 8:00 pm.
