From May 26 to July 4, 2014, the undergraduate student exchange program between Guanghua School of Stomatology, Sun Yat-sen University and University of Glasgow Dental School was successfully held.
In the four weeks from May 26 to June 20, six senior students from Guanghua School of Stomatology, SYSU paid a study visit to University of Glasgow Dental School, Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Southern General Hospital, and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. They also attended a course on medical ethics and took part in seminars.
In the four weeks from June 9 to July 4, six fourth year students from University of Glasgow Dental School studied in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Department, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Prosthodontics Department, Pediatric Dentistry Department, Orthodontics Department, Oral Medicine Department, Geriatrics Department and Institute of Stomatological Research at Guanghua School of Stomatology (Hospital of Stomatology), SYSU. They participated in case discussions, visited public dental hospital, department of stomatology in comprehensive hospital and private dental clinic, and took part in the dental health publicity activity in a kindergarten.

Besides study, the Glasgow exchange students and local students also held cultural activities such as sightseeing, learning Tai Chi and making dumplings.
On July 4, the exchange program report meeting was held in the Lecture Hall of Hospital of Stomatology, SYSU. Secretary Li Xiangzhi, Executive Deputy Dean Cheng Bin, Deputy Dean Lin Zhengmei, Assistant Dean Wang Yan, and fouth year students from Guanghua School of Stomatology attended the meeting. The exchange students from Glasgow Dental School and Guanghua School of Stomatology introduced the medical system, hospital, physician, educational system, school and student, compared the similarities and differences between the two institutions and two countries, and provided significant suggestions for the exchange program and important information for future exchange students.
This exchange program realized teaching and cultural communication between faculty and students of Glasgow Dental School and Guanghua School of Stomatology. It is an exploration to use domestic and foreign academic strengths in stomatological education, and will promote the internationalization process of Guanghua School of Stomatology.
