Professor Liu Yizhi, Director of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, elected as Vice President of Guangdong Medical Association

On the morning of September 5, the 8th Congress of Guangdong Medical Association was held at Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. At the meeting, Professor Liu Yizhi, Director of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, was elected as Vice President of Guangdong Medical Association.

Dr. Liu Yizhi is the Director of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University as well as the Director of the Eye Hospital of Guangzhou. He is a professor of ophthalmology and a Ph.D. supervisor. His work has earned him the prestigious special government allowance of the State Council. He is also currently a standing committee member of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), a committee member of the Chinese Ophthalmological Society (COS), Deputy Director of the Cataract and Intraocular Lenses Division of COS, and a committee member of the Guangdong Ophthalmological Society. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Vision, Associate Editor-in-Chief of Ophthalmology (Chinese version), and the editor of many journals such as Euro Time, Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology (English version), Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology, Chinese Journal of Optometry & Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Br J Ophthalmology.

This election result shows that the member units and member representatives of Guangdong Medical Association approve Prof. Liu’s contribution to medical discipline construction in Guangdong as well as Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center’s work in teaching, research, prevention and treatment, and provides a good platform for exchange and learning.

The Guangdong Medical Association, originally named as the Chinese Medical Association Guangdong Branch, was established in 1917. Throughout the various historical stages, it has made positive contributions to the development of health care in Guangdong province.
