Professor Jianping WENG was elected editor-in-chief by the first plenum of the second editorial committee of Chinese Journal of Diabetes in Nanjing on May 26, 2013.

At the meeting of the editorial committee, Ling LUO, deputy secretary-general of Chinese Medical Association, and Professor Wenying YANG, former editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Diabetes, gave a brief review of the history of the journal, and summarized the achievements of the editorial department and the first editorial committee. On behalf of Chinese Medical Association, Junmin WEI, vice president of the Journal Office of Chinese Medical Association, announced 94 newly elected members of the editorial committee.

Professor Weng, as the newly elected editor-in-chief, expressed his gratitude to the members of the editorial committee for their contribution to the Journal, and made detailed arrangements for future work. He pointed out that the majority of readers of the journal was health workers and researchers of diabetology and related fields, and thus the journal should report the progress in diabetology in our country and offer the latest and most innovative clinical and scientific information, while sustaining academic integrity. Moreover, he stated that the journal could become a platform for domestic and overseas communication of diabetology. He also encouraged the editorial committee to strive to make the journal become one of the best diabetology journals in China.
 
Chinese Journal of Diabetes is sponsored by Chinese Medical Association, and it is the official journal of Chinese Diabetes Society. It has been included in Chinese Science Citation Database, Chemical Abstracts Service, and Ulrich's Periodicals Directory.
