Recently, the 26th Standing Council of Chinese Nursing Association (CNA) was held in Beijing. The meeting summarized the work of the previous council, and completed the election of each specialty committee. Hu Ailing, Deputy Director of Nursing Department of The Third Affiliated Hospital, was elected as Vice Chairperson of the 26th Ostomy Committee of CNA. This is another important position that Deputy Director Hu Ailing has held since serving as Chairperson of the Ostomy Committee of Guangdong Nursing Association. It is recognition of the achievements in wound and ostomy nursing in The Third Affiliated Hospital, and it will play an important role in facilitating the development of wound and ostomy nursing in the Third Affiliated Hospital.
In recent years, with the improvement of living standards, hospitals have begun to pay more attention to wound and ostomy specialty nursing. Since the wound and ostomy specialty clinic was set up in The Third Affiliated Hospital in 2002, it has been responsible for the nursing care of chronic wound, ostomy and incontinent patients of the whole hospital. Deputy Director Hu Ailing has persevered in first-line clinical work to guide the care of complicated chronic wound, enterostomal and incontinent patients. She also set up a wound and ostomy specialist outpatient unit in Lingnan Hospital to offer specialty nursing services to the patients and improve their living quality. She has obtained great achievements in this field. Led by Deputy Director Hu Ailing, The Third Affiliated Hospital also undertook the Guangdong wound and ostomy specialty nurse training class. At present, the two sites of The Third Affiliated Hospital are both training bases for wound and ostomy specialty nurses in Guangdong Province.
