S: South of China
Situated in Guangdong Province, south of China, SYSU consists of five campuses in three core cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (the GBA). Guangzhou campus, with its rich history and cultural heritage, is the oldest campus of SYSU. Zhuhai campus serves the development of a community with a shared future for mankind, where various disciplines related to sustainable development of humanity have taken root. Shenzhen campus is closely integrated with the industrial development of the city, focusing on new engineering disciplines and medicine, striving to promote high-quality development of the GBA. With 69 ancient buildings and modern facilities, along with 7 faculties, 70 schools and 10 affiliated hospitals, SYSU offers a diverse educational and research environment. So far, 21 disciplines of SYSU have entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings, and 11 in the top 1‰ globally.

The First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU has established multiple-year partnership with Mass General Brigham. French President Emmanuel Macron once visited SYSU in 2023.
